The Edmonton Motors towers were slotted for Jasper Avenue in the Oliver neighbourhood, home to the 1950s heritage motor shop from which the locale derived its name. As Oliver changed over time, the site provided an opportunity to reinvigorate this area with a high-density mixed-use structure.
We responded with a design celebrating its historical importance as one of the oldest residential neighbourhoods, and a cornerstone in Oliver and the City of Edmonton for decades. Two sleek towers were designed for diverse use, meant to feature a multi-functional podium that created a dynamic pedestrian realm with new retail and commercial spaces. Located in proximity to public transport, thus on the side of sustainable living, Edmonton Motors was oriented towards alternative methods of transportation and healthful imperatives reflected in the building and amenities across several floors, including a gymnasium, fitness center, social gathering space, quiet lounge/library space and multi-media rooms.
