Located in the heart of Etobicoke, Islington Terrace is a LEED Gold community with a two-storey podium connecting three towers at 45, 35 and 44 storeys, which are highly visible at the City skyline.
Within walking distance to the Islington subway station, design considerations were taken during early stages to reform the public realm adjacent to the site with a sculptural terrace staircase to improve pedestrian experience and safety. The two-storey podium consists of garden villas, retail opportunities at grade and double-height grand lobby connecting all the amenities across the three towers with an extensive family- friendly amenity area located above. The amenity program includes a basketball court, swimming pool, sundeck, whirlpool, sauna, steam room, fitness center, spinning studio, party room with server kitchen, games room, theatre, outdooring barbeque areas as well as dedicated indoor and outdoor play areas for children.
The towers were deliberately positioned to maximize quality views for the residents and creating minimal impact to surrounding buildings. The tower plates sizes were designed to emphasize the modern rectilinear architectural design consisting of mostly window wall and precast on the facades. During design development, further studies were made to avoid stack effects, wind tunneling and to ensure thermal comfort.
