The Waverley has been transformed into an exciting mixed-use property, while preserving the historical charm of the 1900s hotel it once was. Now featuring a dynamic retail space within its boutique lobby, this reinvention creates an inviting, multi-purpose hub that not only serves as the entrance to a luxury rental building, but also opens its doors to the public a bespoke cafe and bar. Next to the residential lobby, a reconstructed entertainment venue honors the legacy of the historic Silver Dollar Room. This iconic live music venue, which operated from 1958 to 2017, hosted some of the most extraordinary musical talent, including legends like Bobby Bland, Curley Bridges, Death From Above 1979, Bob Dylan, Levon Helm, The Barenaked Ladies, and Blue Rodeo.

Owing to its status as a cultural landmark in the city, we carefully preserved elements of the Silver Dollar Room within the design of the Waverley. The room’s iconic hand-painted mural was reinstated, along with its original bar, stage, terrazzo floor, as well as the historic Silver Dollar Room sign, after the building’s completion. These restoration efforts earned the Silver Dollar Room an Award of Merit for Conservation – Small & Lovely in 2021.

Our projects often involve heritage buildings or elements of heritage environments, and we specialize in integrating these historic components into modern designs. The Waverley is a perfect example of how past and present can harmoniously coexist, creating a space that serves the needs of today while honoring its past legacy.
