Clifford Korman is a founding partner of KIRKOR Architects and Planners. With over 40 years at the helm, Cliff has focused on creating responsible, economically viable developments through smart growth strategies, including urban intensification, public transportation, and design innovation from the initial schematic design and planning stages. He excels in aligning client goals with community consultation directives, design charrettes, urban design review panels, Committees of Adjustment, and the Ontario Municipal Board. His profound understanding of municipal planning processes and urban revitalization initiatives makes him a valuable asset in consulting and governmental planning circles. Skilled at promptly translating a site’s potential into sketches, Cliff pushes the limits while ensuring his designs remain within the realm of ‘buildable’ architecture.

Carlos Antunes joined KIRKOR Architects and Planners in 1995 and has been a partner since 2001. As a partner-in-charge and project architect, Carlos oversees many of KIRKOR’s high-density residential projects, engaging deeply in the detailed design development stage through to Site Plan Approval (SPA) and construction documents. His excellent management style fosters dynamic working groups that excel in round-table project coordination, expediting processes and ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget. Carlos’s expertise in CAD management enables him to skillfully handle complex projects, providing comprehensive, concise, and coordinated documents that are highly regarded by project consultancies.

Since joining KIRKOR in 2011 and advancing to Partnership in 2022, Adrienne has established a successful mediating approach that facilitates seamless coordination between clients, colleagues, and municipalities. Her adeptness at transitioning between high-level and detailed design considerations, combined with a refined sensibility for contextual simplicity, consistently results in unique and compelling work across various scales. Adrienne has been a strong advocate for design excellence from the earliest conceptual discussions, ensuring that design rigour is maintained throughout all submission stages.

Ali has been a valued member of KIRKOR Architects and Planners since 2015. Ali’s broad range of experience both locally and internationally has successfully applied to projects with complex site plans, amenities, and requirements. His extensive knowledge of residential projects, thorough understanding of the construction process and technical interconnections of the industry, allows him to progress complex designs successfully, mostly managing construction documentation and administration processes. As a skilled leader, Ali deftly delegates project tasks and coordinates across internal teams and external colleauges and consultants with efficiency and tact. He is a trusted champion of developing and implementing KIRKOR’s standard processes, workflows, guidelines, and details of designing and managing mixed use projects. Ali also spearheaded our Calgary office in 2019, providing leadership to establish our team’s foundation and connection to Toronto.

Since joining KIRKOR in 2005, Dickson has consistently forged innovative solutions to produce aesthetically dynamic buildings that, while rational in form, exhibit a sophisticated interplay between mass and material. His sharp analytical skills and refined critical awareness have enabled him to develop mid- and large-scale projects with a clear focus on essential elements of the final built shape and structure. Appointed a Partner in 2022, Dickson’s seasoned foresight and intuition allow him to anticipate problems in advance, providing his teams with the time and opportunity to develop and implement creative solutions.

Farzad works directly with Partners on numerous residential and mixed-use projects, specializing in, though not limited to, senior and retirement residences  with assisted living communities. He is trusted to lead major parts of these projects’ cycles, from master planning and schematic design up to construction documents. He works closely with the team to make sure the project is following the terms of design conformity with By-laws, approvals, and accessible design. Farzad has the great skill of being able to excel under pressure, work independently and efficiently while making sure the whole process of design meets the clients’ satisfaction.

Jeremy McMartin, KIRKOR’s Director of Digital Practice, is an indispensable asset to the studio, especially in this predominantly digital era. Under Jeremy’s guidance, KIRKOR has become a leading Canadian architectural firm in fully embracing Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodologies and techniques. BIM software allows KIRKOR to create the most coordinated project documents, identifying challenges early in the design stages to achieve a comprehensive understanding of our conceptual designs. These platforms enable KIRKOR to leverage tested experience, using virtual building models to visualize the impact of design shifts and development in real-time. Jeremy’s role involves maintaining the studio’s BIM readiness and staying ahead of technological and digital innovations. His efforts position KIRKOR at the forefront of collaboration, digital computing, and coordination.

Tom Garzelli has nearly 24 years of architectural experience and an excellent track record in project management, bringing projects in on-time and on-budget. He has a keen ability to synthesize complex project information to meet project design, budget and schedule objectives. Tom succeeds in creating a collaborative spirit and is well-respected by clients, consultants and peers. Since joining KIRKOR in 2021, he has been a driving force behind a number of our urban, high-density, commercial, mixed-use developments, as he leads teams with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. Tom’s approach to project delivery is grounded in his pragmatism and understanding of the challenges associated with complex residential developments, exercising his ability to problem-solve efficiently.

Lara Gumushdjian joined KIRKOR in 2015, having concluded her Master’s degree from the University of Toronto’s John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design. Her attention to detail and ability to orchestrate large groups on complex programs has led to KIRKOR’s development of many successful projects. In addition to project management, Lara oversees the Research & Development of key sustainability initiatives as Director of Sustainability; guiding our work toward innovative climate action. Lara also spearheads the Carbon Coalition, KIRKOR’s subsidiary organization that targets reducing embodied carbon in buildings by connecting public, private, and industry sectors to develop holistic strategies collaboratively.
