Located in the up-and-coming community called Midtown, a new St. Albert’s seniors living space is proposed to occupy the rapidly developing southwest corner. The site’s geography is an exciting and direct outcome of geometry shared by the adjacent establishments. It is surrounded by berm/CN Rail on the east, and on the west side is a reserved area for a future park.  

Designing for seniors’ housing is a built and environmental intervention that can directly affect physical, psychological, and emotional well-being by helping to maintain or regain independence and autonomy, promoting longevity. Our design solution encompasses multiple building programs in two conjoined buildings which share extensive amenities and services through a common lobby area and single-level underground parkade. It develops a link to the natural landscape, local building precedents, and harmonizes a 45-acre master-planned community to offer a diverse range of housing types and exciting amenities for all ages and stages of life. 

We have incorporated a unique blend of distinct architectural forms alongside open-space and pedestrian-friendly design that prioritizes age diversity, safety, and general accessibility.
